Earlier today, players for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins took a knee to protest police brutality against people of color, in direct defiance of President Trump, who has ordered them all to stand for the national anthem.
Trump’s constant Twitter rants against the NFL are thinly racist dog whistles aimed at exciting his bigoted base. It’s no coincidence that our white supremacist president has once again arrayed himself against prominent black Americans.
Now, another superstar athlete has joined the counter push against Trump’s attacks. Marshawn Lynch, the famously stoic running back for the Oakland Raiders arrived for his game today against the Denver Broncos sporting a shirt that read “Everybody Vs. Trump.”

he shirt is both an admonishment of Trump’s racist Twitter attacks, as well as acknowledgment of a simple fact that Trump supporters still refuse to accept: at this point, it really is the United States Vs. Trump. He is pursuing an agenda that actively undermines our core values, makes us weaker internationally, and sets the stage for another economic collapse. Trump is terrible for this country, and the only patriotic thing to do is to resist him at every turn.
